System requirements

  • Console: Windows 11 or Windows Server 2019 to 2025, x64
  • Domain controllers: Windows Server 2016 to 2025, nothing to install
  • Installation: once with administrator rights on the workstation (MSI, per machine)
  • Daily work: as a normal domain account with read access to the directory
  • Network: LDAP 389 or LDAPS 636 to the DCs, optionally HTTPS for updates

Verify the file

Compare the SHA-256 checksum and the signature before you deploy:

Get-FileHash .\DirectoryOps-*.msi -Algorithm SHA256
Get-AuthenticodeSignature .\DirectoryOps-*.msi |
  Select Status, SignerCertificate

Deployment

Install and deploy

The MSI installs to “C:\Program Files\TOMORIS\DirectoryOps” and adds a Start menu shortcut. Newer versions replace older ones cleanly; the MSI refuses a downgrade.

For Intune, ConfigMgr or software deployment via GPO, a silent install is all you need:

msiexec /i DirectoryOps-0.1.0-x64.msi /qn /norestart /l*v "%TEMP%\DirectoryOps-Installation.log"
REM Entfernen
msiexec /x DirectoryOps-0.1.0-x64.msi /qn

Without a licence file DirectoryOps runs as Community. Importing a licence file (Pro, MSP, Consultant or trial) under Settings arrives with the version for the sales launch.

Without internet

Internal share and offline package

Networks without internet access get updates in two ways, with the same checks as online:

  1. Internal share: copy manifest.json, manifest.json.sig and the MSI of a channel into a folder, e.g. \\fs01\software\directoryops\stabil, and set the policy UpdateSource to \\fs01\software\directoryops.
  2. Offline package: the file DirectoryOps-x.y.z.doupdate contains the version file, signature and MSI. In DirectoryOps choose Settings → Updates → “Open offline package”.

For the online check your proxy needs two destinations: directoryops.tomoris.com and the TOMORIS download storage (Azure Storage, its address is shown under the current version).

Group Policy

Control updates centrally

The company policy takes precedence over the setting on the workstation. DirectoryOps then shows “set by policy”.

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\TOMORIS\DirectoryOps (REG_SZ)
ValueContentDefault
UpdateModeAutomatisch (checks at start, at most once a day, installs only after a click), NurManuell (only on request) or Aus (no check, only software deployment or offline package)Automatisch
UpdateSourceHTTPS address or folder/UNC path; the channel is appended as a subfolderhttps://directoryops.tomoris.com/updates/
UpdateChannelstabil or vorschaustabil

Administrative template (ADMX)

Put DirectoryOps.admx into the central store \\<domain>\SYSVOL\<domain>\Policies\PolicyDefinitions and the language file into the subfolder en-US or de-DE. The settings then appear under Computer Configuration → Administrative Templates → TOMORIS → DirectoryOps → Updates.

Without Group Policy

The same values via PowerShell, e.g. for a provisioning script:

$k = 'HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Policies\TOMORIS\DirectoryOps'
New-Item $k -Force | Out-Null
Set-ItemProperty $k UpdateMode 'NurManuell'
Set-ItemProperty $k UpdateSource '\\fs01\software\directoryops'
Set-ItemProperty $k UpdateChannel 'stabil'
